Board of Elders
The Elders Board is responsible for the internal spiritual care for the members of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. With the assistance of the pastors, the board recommends changes in membership to the church council such as transfers, acceptance by profession of faith, releases, and excommunications. The board has the responsibility for the assimilation of new members to the congregation.
In general, the board concerns itself with the spiritual life of the congregation. Members of the board also visit, counsel, and encourage members who have manifested a lack of concern for the hearing of God’s Word and the reception of the Lord’s Supper as well as those who have shown a general disregard for the work of the church.
The board, with the pastors, shall develop committees that are responsible in assisting with visitation programs, such as the distribution of taped church services, routine member visitation, and shut-in visitation.
The Elders Board is also responsible for the spiritual care information and assistance for members of the congregation that are temporarily living away from home. These individuals are members of the congregation currently attending college, members of the Armed Forces, and those who are institutionalized.
The Elders Board is also responsible, with the assistance, for the upkeep of the congregation’s prayer chain.
The Elders Board consists of seven elected voting members of the congregation. The current board members are:
William Koenig, Chairman
