BEFRIEND A MISSION

Befriend a Mission (BAM) is a wonderful program by the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society (LWMS).  In this program, missionaries are assigned to an LWMS Circuit for two years.  The congregations within this Circuit then support this missionary, and his mission field, through prayers, cards, letters, gifts, etc.  St. Paul is a member of the Capitol Circuit of LWMS.

In the past, Mission Society has done much of the work of supporting our missionaries but, ANYONE can participate in this great (and really easy!) program.  St. Paul is a member of LWMS which makes any female member of St. Paul a member of LWMS!  Do you like to write letters?  Do you like to make cards?  Would you really like to find out more about missions and ways that you can support them?  Being a part of the BAM program is a great way to use your abilities and learn a lot about WELS home and world missions.  The BAM coordinator for St. Paul's is Jill Doering.  Feel free to contact her (648-3338 or mjdoering@gdinet.com) with any questions or to find out how you can participate! Check out the bulletin board in the church narthex for specific information about the missionaries that will be supported by St. Paul over the next two years.

CAPITOL CIRCUIT LWMS MEETING

Circuit Rallies are semi-annual gatherings where mission-minded women come together to encourage one another in spiritual growth and mission awareness. They are usually held in the spring and the fall. These are a wonderful opportunity to meet or join with women for worship, fellowship, and learning about missions at home and around the world.

There are 60 LWMS circuits and each circuit has the latitude to organize their circuit gatherings as will work best in their area. Some start with a Bible study while others enjoy hearing a mission speaker followed by study of the Word. While a business meeting is essential to conducting the business of the organization, the time is kept to a minimum to allow for more time to focus on mission and spiritual growth.

Watch for upcoming circuit rally details.

The 2011 Capitol Circuit LWMS Fall Meeting was held at Our Redeemer, Madison on Saturday, October 22. The guest speakers were Pastor Bill and Faith Krug. The topic was "Mexico Mission Fields".

The LWMS Annual Convention is held every year during the last full weekend of June and is hosted by local LWMS circuits. It is a wonderful opportunity to gather together with other mission-minded WELS women for worship, fellowship, and learning about missions at home and around the world.

The convention typically begins with a communion worship service on Thursday evening and ends with a service on Sunday morning. Friday and Saturday are filled with a mixture of mission speakers, workshops, devotions and entertainment.

The 49th Annual LWMS Convention is June 21-24, 2012. The Convention is hosted by the Heritage Circuit in Winston-Salem at the M.C. Benton Jr. Convention Center. For more information click on the following LWMS website...
