School Board

The School Board is responsible for oversight of the Lutheran Elementary School (LES) of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The School Board promotes Christian education and recommends policy for the operation of the LES to the congregation through the Church Council.

The School Board has the responsibility to propose an annual budget for the operation of the LES to the Finance Board.  In addition, the School Board is responsible for the regular review of the LES programs and approval of the curriculum, co-curricular activities, and textbook selection with a special emphasis of inculcating a Christian world-view for students, parents, and faculty alike in keeping with the school’s mission statement.  The School Board administers policy for the supervision of faculty and staff for their continuing professional development. The School Board also functions to oversee disciplinary action within the LES including a parental appeal process.

The principal of the LES is an ex-officio member of the School Board.

Other congregations in fellowship with the WELS may also have a representative on the school board if that congregation has exercised the option to call its own teacher to serve on the faculty of the LES.  This arrangement must be approved by specific action of the voters of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The School Board is also responsible for the oversight of the Parent Teacher League.

The School Board consists of five elected voting members of the congregation.  The current board members are:

Matt Doering, Chairman
Bob Gerdes
James Tisler
Dan Topel
Mark Yandre
